The Metroball DC AAU 16U team was challenged this week when they entered in the 17U division in the First Annual Rt 1 Classic Tournament sponsored by Dominate The Glass (dominatetheglass.org) in Alexandria, VA. They stepped up to the challenge and ended up winning the tournament. Though undersized and missing their key player Tayron Sellers (Stretch), their tenacity could not be matched. D’Vonte Kay (Ressevelt HS) took MVP Honors.
This was the a huge accomplishment for them and their new coach, Tony Parry. This was Tony’s first championship as a Metroball Coach. Coach Tony applauded the team’s effort and believes that they will be able to start picking up some wins against the larger AAU clubs in the near future.
